Frozen, Dirty Dancing and Grease among movies lined-up for Doncaster drive in cinema

A string of smash hot Hollywood movies including classic such as Frozen, Grease and Dirty Dancing have been lined-up for Doncaster's first ever drive-in cinema.

The Moonlight Drive In Cinema will come to the town's Keepmoat Stadium from December 4-10 and will include a feast of festive movies for all the family.

Tickets for the movies are on sale now and the line-up includes two films a day with cinemagoers able to watch the action from the comfort of their own car.

The bill also includes hits such as Home Alone, The Grinch, Die Hard and It's A Wonderful Life.

The Moonlight Drive-in Cinema describes itself as the UK's biggest drive in cinema and will offer a variety of festive films on a big screen in an outdoor setting.

Posting on its Facebook page, the Scarborough based firm announced: "We are very pleased to announce that we are coming to Doncaster with our Christmas themed drive-in cinema!"

Founded in 2014, the outdoor cinema specialists now operate a number of locations across the UK.

Based mainly within Yorkshire, the firm offers both permanent locations and mobile events, screening both the latest blockbusters and classic films.

A statement on the firm's Facebook page said: "Moonlight Drive-in Cinema is a unique outdoor cinema attraction that provides a high quality digital cinema experience in the comfort of your own personal space.

"Moonlight Drive-in Cinema opened its doors for the first time in July 2015 and by providing a cinema experience with a difference we are giving our customers a re-invented way of enjoying a new release or an old classic."

Drive-in cinemas are well-known as an American institution and their peak popularity came in the late 1950s and early 1960s, with some 4,000 drive-ins spread across the United States.

December 5: 6.30pm: The Lion King

December 5: 9pm - Top Gun

December 6: 6.30pm - Frozen

December 6: 9pm - Die Hard

December 7: 6.30pm - Home Alone

December 7: 9pm - Bad Santa

December 8: 6.30pm - The Muppets Christmas Carol

December 8: 9pm - The Nightmare Before Christmas

December 9: 6.30pm - The Grinch

December 9: 9pm - It's A Wonderful Life

December 10: 6.30pm - Elf

December 10: 9pm - Scrooged

Tickets are £25 per vehicle, regardless of occupancy, with larger vehicles placed towards the back and side.
