Wednesday have transformed their fortunes in the last couple of weeks and kick-started their season.

After their miserable 2-0 defeat at Brentford, boss Jos Luhukay criticised his players, labelling the performance "not acceptable". He accused his team of offering of "zero" in defence and attack, prompting him to lay down the law in a straight-talking team meeting two days after the Griffin Park clash.

He demanded a strong response and the Owls have delivered, beating Millwall, Ipswich Town and Reading to climb up to 11th in the Championship.

Not only have results markedly improved but Wednesday also agreed new deals with Barry Bannan and Lucas Joao and added Michael Hector and Josh Onomah to their ranks before the loan window closed last week.

"The team has given the right answer on where they want to go this season," acknowledged Luhukay. "It is always that you try to come to the best performances so you have a good position in the league.

"It is what I'm seeing in the team and I'm very happy with that."
