FIVE cyclists plan to use pedal power to raise cash for charity after a pal was treated successfully for testicular cancer.

The friends are in training for a 530-mile ride from John O’Groats to their home town of Barnsley.

Michael Hirst, aged 38, Glenn Tolan and Dave Redfern, both 41, and Dave Batch, 37, who all work at Barnsley Premier Leisure, and Jason Eyre, 41, who works at Wavin in Barnsley, are raising cash for charity for the help they gave Darren Hayes, 38, from Monk Bretton, when he developed testicular cancer four-and-a-half years ago.

Darren underwent successful treatment at Weston Park Hospital in Sheffield.

n Visit to sponsor the cyclists, who aim to complete the ride over August Bank Holiday weekend.
