Friends and relatives of a Barnsley woman with terminal cancer have rallied together to raise the money to give her the wedding of her dreams.

Jamie Lea Jepson, aged 25, from Cudworth, was diagnosed with cervical cancer in May and underwent an operation to remove the tumour.

But in October she received the news that the cancer has returned and doctors are unable to save her.

Friends and family held a fundraising event in a pub in Elsecar, near Barnsley, and raised £3,500 to pay for her to marry her fiance Gareth Harrison, 26, next month.

Jamie’s mum Maxine, 47: “Jamie came to the pub in a wheelchair and she loved seeing all her friends and family in one place.

“It was a lovely evening and Jamie had a great time.”
