Freemasons give festive gift

FREEMASONS have handed a cheque for £700 to a Sheffield children’s centre as a late Christmas present.

Members of the Royal Brunswick Masonic Lodge, of Tapton Masonic Hall, Shore Lane, Tapton, Sheffield, gave donations to raise the cash, instead of passing festive cards to each other.

Christopher Powell, master of the lodge, presented the cheque to Ryegate Children’s Centre, Tapton Crescent Road, Crosspool.

The first Sheffield charity supported by the lodge was the foundation of the Sheffield General Hospital, more than 200 years ago, in 1793.
