Freedom Riders take to streets of Barnsley

Have your say

Campaigners for free travel passes for the disabled and elderly in South Yorkshire staged a march and rally in Barnsley over the weekend.

The group, known as the Freedom Riders, have spent the last few weeks travelling for free on trains in South Yorkshire in protest at the South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive scrapping their free train and bus passes.

Transport bosses have undertaken a partial U-turn and agreed to the disabled still being allowed to travel for free and said pensioners can travel for half price.

However, Freedom Riders wanting a full policy u-turn marched through the streets of Barnsley on Saturday.
