Free tax advice offered to new firms

Have your say

NEW businesses and newly self-employed people in Sheffield are being offered free advice on VAT and taxes.

Face-to-face tax help and advice which looks at your circumstances now and plans ahead for growth in the future will be on offer at HM Revenue & Customs’ (HMRC’s) employer and business event, at The Source at Meadowhall, Meadowhall Way, on Thursday, January 19.

The event offers an opportunity to learn about the obligations of a business, the help available, and what might be required as the business becomes established and successful.

Laurence Walford, from HMRC, said: “Our advisers will discuss the nature of the business and explain what’s required as well as how we can help now and in the future.

“That might include advice on payroll for those taking on new staff, getting to grips with online filing, or setting up a limited company. We’ll also be explaining how VAT works, and talking about the various schemes and initiatives that can support businesses and ease the administrative burden.”
