LOCAL solicitors have teamed up with Barnsley Hospice to offer a free will-making service.
Four firms will waive their fee in February to write simple wills or alter existing ones in exchange for a donation to the hospice.
It costs £9,000 a day to run the hospice at Gawber, with care free for anyone in Barnsley with a life-limiting condition.
The hospice has to raise £2 million in addition to its £1.6m NHS grant to stay open.
Last year nearly £400,000 was left in wills - a big increase on the average of previous years.
The Barnsley solicitors’ firms offering the service are Howells, Bury & Walkers, Elmhirst Parker and MKB Solicitors, who are waiving the fee in exchange for a suggested £50 donation.
