MOTORISTS are being offered free parking in Chesterfield in the run-up to Christmas.
Chesterfield Council have given the go-ahead for the free parking in a bid to attract more people to the town.
Coun John Burrows, Chesterfield Council leader, said: “It will cost the council around £7,000 to offer the free parking but we want to encourage people to shop locally so hopefully the free parking will keep our shops and markets busy over the Christmas period.”
Free parking will be available from 4pm onwards on all Chesterfield Council car parks within the town centre on Thursdays from November 29 until December 13 and from Monday, December 17, to Saturday, December 22.
There is also free parking all day on Sunday, December 23.
