Free parking will be offered across Sheffield on the next three Saturday afternoons in a festive shopping incentive.
For the first time the Sheffield Council scheme has been extended to district shopping areas such as Ecclesall Road, Hillsborough and Broomhill as well as the city centre.
It applies only to council run car parks and on street parking.
Coun Leigh Bramall, cabinet member for business, said: “We hope the free parking will help shoppers to access our retail offer in the run-up to Christmas.
“We have listened to retailers who told us that free parking on Saturdays will be more beneficial to them than free parking on Wednesdays, as we have had in previous years.
“I also hope the free parking will provide an additional incentive for people to come and sample the Christmas market and Winter Village in Fargate and the Peace Gardens, which features a range of independent traders.”
The scheme starts this Saturday December 6.
