Free entry to iceSheffield as four Sheffield teams play in National Ice Hockey finals at this weekend

The booming Sheffield Junior Ice Hockey Academy has an amazing four teams at the National finals this weekend.

The Academy is urging supporters to come and back the sides at the free-to enter event on their home ice at iceSheffield.

The quartet won a combined total of 61 games during the season, drawing one and losing only four.

Play begins at 9am tomorrow but first up for Sheffield are the Under-13s, who meet Chelmsford in the semi-final at 10.15.

The Under-15s face Peterborough at noon; the Under-18s meet Okanagan at 2pm and the last Sheffield involvement on semi-finals day starts at 4.15 when the Under-11s meet Swindon.

The finals are on Sunday.

* Full programme - Saturday, 9am: U11 semi final Trafford v Chelmsford; 10.15am: u13 semi final Sheffield v Chelmsford; 12 noon: u15 semi final Sheffield v Peterborough; 2 pm- u18 final: Okanagan UK v Sheffield; 4.15pm: u11 semi final – Swindon v Sheffield; 5.30pm: u13 semi final Swindon v Nottingham; 7.15pm: u15 semi final Chelmsford v Nottingham.

Sunday, 9am: u11 bronze medal match; 10.15am: u13 bronze medal match; 11.45am: u15 bronze medal match; 1.45pm: u11 final; 3pm: u13 Final; 4.45pm: u15 Final.

Admission is free for all spectators but there will be an opportunity to support the JLMC charity partner, The Jack O’Donnell Foundation with programmes, raffles and tombola.

The finals come as iceSheffield has cemented its reputation as the biggest hub in the country for the sport after it was revealed that the venue is home more to teams that any other ice venue in the country.

The facility currently plays host to a total of 40 teams, ranging from elite level with Sheffield Steelers and Sheffield Steeldogs, down to more recreational teams and grassroots clubs from the Sheffield Junior Ice Hockey Academy.

The Steelers, who play some of their home games at iceSheffield, were formed in 1991 and have won 9 league championships since their inception, making them the most decorated team in British Ice Hockey History in terms of league championships.
