Dog owners can get their dogs chipped free of charge on Monday, February 8.
Rotherham Council and the Dogs Trust have joined forces to offer free micro chipping at the Lyric Theatre in Dinnington between 11am and 3pm.
Advisory Cabinet Member for Waste, Roads and Community Safety, Coun Kath Sims, said: “Micro chipping a dog at the vets normally costs £20-30, so this is a great deal. Implanting a micro-chip is a simple, painless procedure that helps so much if your dog ever gets lost or stolen, so it really is worth getting your dog micro chipped.”
Dogs must be at least 12 weeks old and should not have been treated for fleas for at least 24 hours before.
Vaccination cards must be brought for puppies under six months old.
