Free computer and internet workshops at Thorne library

Residents in Thorne, Doncaster will be able to access free workshops on computer and internet skills and knowledge at the town library.

SilenceBreaker Media is running the DIY Computing project where local residents can access personalised and flexible learning through twelve three-hour workshops at Thorne Library, The Vermuyden Centre, Field Side, Thorne. The workshops start on April 8, running every Friday, 2-5pm.

Attendees of the course will be upskilled in computer and internet basics, with opportunity to learn about computer repair and maintenance, software, hardware and social media.

SilenceBreaker Media Founder, Jay Baker, said: “Thanks to the funding from South Yorkshire’s Community Foundation and the E.ON’s Tween Bridge Wind Farm Community Benefits Fund we are able to run a project that responds to local demand, and expands our provision in Doncaster after running several successful computer projects in Edlington. We are looking forward to creating a long-term connection in Thorne and engaging local people in technology upskilling.”
