Free cat microchipping and neutering available in Sheffield

A number of free microchips and neutering operations are available at the veterinary charity’s Pet Hospital in Newhall Road and Northern Avenue for cats belonging to people who are eligible for support.

The initiative, which will also include a free health and wellbeing ‘MOT’ check, is being provided through the PetWise programme, sponsored by The Marchig Animal Welfare Trust. Each cat will receive a free MOT check from a PDSA vet or vet nurse, covering all aspects of their health and wellbeing. Their owner will be given a personalised advice and action plan. Each cat can also be microchipped and neutered for free, which would normally cost around £85.

Robert Haselgrove, Senior Veterinary Surgeon at Sheffield PDSA Pet Hospital said: “This is a fantastic initiative and will enable us to protect more cats from preventable diseases. Neutering more cats will help avoid unwanted pregnancies and microchipping more cats will greatly increase the chances of them being reunited with their owner should they ever get lost or go missing.

“Kittens should be neutered from four months old, so if your cat isn’t neutered please get in touch.

There’s no need to wait until your cat becomes sick or injured. By making an appointment for them to receive a free health MOT check, and to be microchipped or neutered, you will be taking an important step in protecting their long-term health and wellbeing.”
