Staff from Barnsley Library Service will be handing out free books on Monday in various places around the town centre.
As part of this year’s World Book Night, library staff will start their tour at Walkabout Bar on Church street from 1.30pm to 2.30pm, before moving to Tequila Bar and Restaurant on Shambles Street from 5.30pm to 7pm.
One million free books will be given out, with 480,000 given out at locations, and the remainder sent to hospitals, prisons and other places where books are need.
The campaign aims to attract donors and to recommend books from one reader to another. Martin Farran, Executive Director Adults and Communities, said: “Barnsley’s Library Service is delighted to be supporting this campaign.”
