SCAMS are running at record levels in Derbyshire after complaints leapt 24 per cent in a year.

The county council received 690 reports of con attempts in the year to March - up from 556 from the previous year.

Bogus computer viruses and Ukash voucher scams both showed a big increase.

Ukash is method of cashless payment which can be made over the phone.

Victims are persuaded to use them to pay them for bogus services like a tax refund or loan.
