There's a little negativity amongst some fans following a disappointing conclusion to the transfer window, but there are plenty of reasons to suggest that this could be a good day for the Blades.

And here are four...

The 'Two Fingers'

Sheffield United fans and indeed the manager has spent the last few weeks telling everyone that the squad isn't strong enough. Nothing should focus the mind of the current members than a load of people playing down your collective abilities. You'd like to think that would provide motivation and an, "I'll show you" flick of the 'Vs'.

Needs must

It's probably too early be be talking about 'must win' games but if United are to stay in touch they need to go on another run, preferably of wins as there have been too many draws of late. The scrap for the last couple of League One play off places is going to be hugely competitive, and Nigel Adkins side will know all too well that they can ill afford to drop many points.

The United striker had been on a fine run of goalscoring form in the league which came to an end 10 days ago at Blackpool. The Blades top scorer will be fired up to make sure his 'blanks' stop at one.

Wigan could be weak, mentally

The last time the sides met Wigan should have been home and dry with three points in the bag. That they ended up shipping three goals in the last 20-odd minutes says a lot about their mentality. If United go at them from the start, perhaps the Latics might crumble again.
