Glenn Roeder, a former advisor to Sheffield Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri, has joined League Two side Stevenage in a similar role.

Roeder was brought in by Chansiri in the early days of the Thai businessman's takeover, with a football committee initially established which also included then boss Stuart Gray and Adam Pearson.

Pearson quickly left to go back to Leeds United as executive director and Gray was subsequently sacked as head coach last summer, leaving Roeder as the only original member of Chansiri's team.

However Roeder, too, parted company with the club in December.

The 60 year old former West Ham and Newcastle United manager will assist Darren Sarll, who has been in charge at Stevenage since Teddy Sheringham was sacked in February.

Chairman Phil Wallace told Boro's official website: "Darren Sarll is an excellent young coach who has the respect of the players and understands the DNA of the club but obviously has limited experience as a professional manager.

"Rather than throw away his energy, dedication and skill set to get results, we are instead introducing top-level managerial experience and tuition to the management structure and Glenn, having managed in the Premier League, is a fantastic addition to our team.

"Glenn will start today and will be at the heart of everything we do until the end of the season. We hope this exciting appointment gives the whole club a lift and sees us start to climb the table in our remaining nine games."
