Former Sheffield United and Wednesday player made bankrupt

Former Sheffield United and Wednesday player Dean Windass has been declared bankrupt after a court heard he owed the taxman more than £150,000.

A bankruptcy order was made against the 47-year-old Windass on Monday at a Bankruptcy and Companies Court hearing in London

Striker Windass made more than 600 appearances and scored more than 200 goals in a career which began in the early 1990s and lasted around 18 years.

He played for Sheffield Wednesday on loan in 2001 before moving to United on loan in 2002 and playing for the club again in 2003.
