Former Rotherham United and Leeds United boss Steve Evans takes over at Mansfield Town

The former Rotherham United boss whose last job was at Leeds United, has joined the League Two side along with long-time assistant Paul Raynor with the appointment described as "the most exciting in the club's modern history."

"His proven record of achieving silverware made Steve the outstanding candidate to lead the club into a new era. This is arguably the most significant and most exciting appointment the club has made in its modern history."

Evans has plenty of experience in the lower leagues having taken Boston United into the Football League before helping Crawley Town to two promotions.

His most successful period came at Rotherham, though, where the 54 year-old Scot led the Millers to back-to-back promotions and into the Championship by way of an incredible victory over Leyton Orent at Wembley

He left Rotherham in September 2015 and less than a month later joined Leeds United where he saw out the season before becoming the latest manager to be sacked by United owner Massimo Cellino.
