Formal opening of brand new cricket clubhouse

During the winter, Eckington Cricket Club has been building a brand new clubhouse. This has been an inspirational effort and has been built entirely by cricket club members.

A formal opening ceremony is planned for Saturday March 25 at 6pm (5.30pm arrival) where community and cricketing dignitaries are invited to join us in celebrating this amazing achievement and officially declare the new clubhouse open.

Andy Vaughan, Chairman of Eckington Cricket Club said: “It is with immense pride that we can finally open the new clubhouse. It has been a long winter and the work from all of our members has been phenomenal, I can’t praise them enough.

“I would like to thank our funders, in particular Sport England, Tarmac Ltd, Wolley Bros. Wholesale meats, Derbyshire County Council, Don Woodhead and Chris Drury as without their support this project wouldn’t have been possible. My biggest thanks is however, reserved for our members who have worked in all weathers and with amazing fortitude and enthusiasm to build our pride and joy. The cricket club, which I would argue was already one of the most picturesque in Derbyshire, is now complete.”
