Young footballers have received a major sporting boost with a £5,000 grant awarded by the Football Foundation, the country’s largest sports charity.

The grant will allow Chesterfield Junior Blues FC to set up two new under-seven football teams, one this year and one in 2012, to play mini-soccer in the Rowsley and District Youth Football League.

Funded by the Premier League, The FA, and the Government via Sport England, the Football Foundation is the nation’s largest sports charity.

Oliver Couch, Chairman of Chesterfield Junior Blues FC, said: “Making sure that junior football teams have stability in their early days is essential if players are to be given the best opportunity.”
