FOOTBALL players are hoping to be on the ball when they take part in the Sheffield Half Marathon next month.
The group from The University of Sheffield will be raising money for the city’s Royal Society for the Blind at the race on Sunday, May 8.
Last year they raised £2,500 and are hoping to beat the total this year by at least £500.
Richard Brough, the main organiser of the group, said: “We decided to choose the charity again because it offers great support to people across Sheffield and is such a worthy cause.
“The Sheffield Half Marathon is a great way of getting fit and having something to focus on. Competing in the race will also help us in our weekly matches and to train for Varsity, where we play against Sheffield Hallam University at the end of the season.
“We are all training hard ready for race day.”
