Football teams’ kit for Africa

Have your say

UNWANTED football kits donated by clubs around South Yorkshire has been flown out to Kenya after being collected by Sheffield and Hallamshire County FA.

The haul is the latest to be donated under the Taking Football to Africa and Beyond appeal.

The appeal, which is now in its sixth year, has delivered over 50,000 items to the poorest parts of Africa, including a huge amount from the Sheffield and Hallamshire FA and its clubs.

Geoffrey Omukakula, the manager and founder of the Ironstrikers FC who play in National Division 2 in Nairobi in Kenya, visited RAF Shawbury to collect the kit after his side took on a team of British servicemen.

Among the kits collected by Geoffrey were some donated by Handsworth JFC, which means the famous amber shirt will be prevalent on the streets on Nairobi.

Sheffield and Hallamshire FA is appealing for further donations from affiliated clubs to the appeal.
