GOOD causes are to benefit from £6,000 raised at a South Yorkshire rotary club’s sportsman’s dinner starring former Wolves and Manchester City footballer Steve Daley.

Barnsley-born Daley was sold by Wolves to City for a then British record fee of £1,437,500 and later played in the United States and for Burnley and Walsall. He entertained guests with anecdotes from his career at the Rockley Rotary Club dinner at Barnsley’s Holiday Inn hotel.

Kathy Markwick, of the rotary club, said: “We believe we have raised more than £6,000, which will be split between Parkinsons UK Barnsley and District, The Prostate Cancer Charity, Second Chance Headway Wakefield and Yorkshire Air Ambulance.”

n The club is holding a fun run for the Prostate Cancer Charity on Sunday, March 25, at 10am, in Locke Park. For details, call 08455 831 719.
