Football fans in mass Rotherham train station brawl

Rotherham United and Derby County football fans were involved in a mass brawl at Rotherham station.

A fight broke out on platform 2 on Saturday March 12.

At around 6.30pm approximately 30 Derby County supporters were involved in a verbal altercation with a group of Rotherham supporters on the opposite platform.

A few members of the group then ran across the tracks and a there was a fight between about 10 people.

British Transport Police are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the disorder to come forward.

PC Ewan Brechin from BTP said: “We’d like to hear from anyone who was at Rotherham station on Saturday, 12 March who witnessed the incident.

“This type of violent behaviour is completely unacceptable and must have been extremely distressing and unpleasant for other passengers at the station.

“We are committed to stamping out football-related anti-social behaviour on the rail network and are doing all we can to identify the individuals concerned and bring them to justice. If you were at the station and witnessed the incident, please come forward and contact us as you may have information with could help us to do this.”
