A fight broke out in Chesterfield town centre after the game in April 16, with disorder reported in Cavendish Street and Holywell Cross.

Three men arrested over the fights pleaded guilty to public order offences during a hearing in Chesterfield on Friday.

Brandon Hendry, aged 23, of Princess Street, Brimington, received a five-year football banning order and a 12 month community order, during which he must complete a rehabilitation course and complete 160 hours of unpaid work.

Ellis Preece, 29, of Summer Hill Road, Leeds, was banned from football matches for three years. He was also sentenced to a 12 month community order, with 120 hours of unpaid work.

Thomas Sellors, 19, of Hathern Close, Brimington, received a three-year banning order and a 12 month community order, with 100 hours of unpaid work.

PC Roger Brown, a football intelligence officer for Derbyshire police, said: “Sadly a group of supporters became involved in football related disorder after the Chesterfield FC v Sheffield United home fixture. The incident happened in the early evening in the busy town centre, and there were many families, shoppers and visitors in the area at the time.

“It is not acceptable to behave in a way that intimidates or frightens others either at football matches, before or after and it won’t be tolerated.

"We have a proven track record of targeting football related disorder and will continue to apply for banning orders when appropriate.”
