Are you a cook?

Only occasionally as my wife really enjoys cooking. When allowed it is either steak or a Sunday roast.

Any cooking tips?

Keep it simple and use good quality, fresh ingredients.

What’s your favourite dish?

At the moment, squid ink risotto. It goes really well with prawns, calamari or scallops.

And a drink to go with it?

A nice cold Belgian lager.

My wife and I really like restaurants in the Abbeydale and London Road area -especially La Mamas tapas restaurant which has live music on a Saturday.

And pub?

The Broadfield, a lively atmosphere, friendly crowd and great pies!

What’s the worst meal you’ve ever had?

At a pub with a keenly priced buy one meal, get one free offer. The deal appeared too good to be true - and it was!

And the best?

Every time I visit my mother in Spain, we go to an Argentine steak restaurant  Cosquin. It is the best steak I have ever eaten.

Yotam Ottolenghi; the salad dishes he creates are fantastic.

What do you think of Sheffield as a place to eat out?

There is a real buzz in Sheffield with small independent restaurants all over. The choice available is improving, long may it continue.
