FOOD: Bite into USA style burger at new Sheffield venue

West One already has a huge selection of fantastic bars and restaurants for customers to choose from.

From Las Iguanas to Ginseng Korean BBQ and Revolution to the relatively new and popular OHM.

But the complex has been feeling incomplete since Anchorage left with the site standing empty for a number of months.

So, when Kerb Edge announced in January that it was expanding its New York inspired burger joint to the complex there was obvious elation.

The new restaurant follows on from their success in Hull; their first site after the company was founded four years ago.

Like all the best burger joints, their inspiration comes from the Big Apple after witnessing first hand the dish’s popularity with hungry diners.

The burger joint has a fantastic selection of beef, chicken and veggie burgers to choose from as well as wings, salad boxes and even breakfasts!

But, not only is their passion in burgers, it clearly extends to cocktails and craft beers.

As a beer lover myself, its almost as hard to choose a drink as it is to choose a meal.

I finally settled for a Big Eagle IPA, from Brew York but was tempted by a number from Leeds’ North Brewery and a few Welsh offerings.

With my drink sorted it was time to choose my meal which, again, was no easy task, I sadly passed at the option of Korean Chicken Wings (Korean BBQ sauce sounded amazing) and gave in to my mushroom love.

The Mushroom Swiss (£8.50) boasted a handcrafted beef patty, garlic and thyme oven roasted flat mushroom, Swiss cheese, black pepper Ranch sauce and citrus pickled onion, all stuffed into a toasted brioche bun.

Based on the adventurous description, I should have been expecting the huge dish that was brought to me.

I even had some halloumi fries for £4 extra and some nacho loaded chips (£6.50) to boot.

My fears of ordering too much were put to rest as I stuffed the last chip into my mouth, not wanting to miss out on any of the flavours.

This was a lesson from start to finish in how to make a real burger, the New York way. I paid £28.75 in total, including two beers.
