Follow John Lewis' lead

John Lewis' decision to use computer-generated imagery (CGI) once again for its latest Christmas advert, rather than using frustrated, tormented wild animals, puts it in line with other conscientious companies and spares animals the stress of being treated as living props.

CGI masterpieces like this one show that there’s no reason to subject wildlife to the stress of travel and the confinement, inadequate living conditions, bright lights, and loud and scary noises that come with a film set.

With the technology that’s available to filmmakers and ad producers today, let’s hope other companies follow John Lewis’ lead and pledge not to turn wild animals into a spectacle in the name of entertainment.
