Folk singers oppose BNP

Have your say

ANTI-BNP activists have organised a Folk Against Fascism concert as part of a campaign against the far-right party, which has announced it will be fielding a candidate in the Barnsley Central by-election.

The “very special evening of traditional English folk music” will take place at Barnsley Civic, on Hanson Street, at 8pm on Saturday February 5.

Folk and roots band Little Johnny England have been lined up for the event. Supporting will be Barnsley-based performer Dave Burland. Tickets cost £10 or £8 for concessions.

Barnsley Unite Against Fascism is also holding a stall in the town centre precinct tomorrow from 11am.

The BNP has announced “preparations are underway” to select a candidate for the seat, left vacant by the resignation of Eric Illsley after he admitted fraud relating to his Parliamentary expenses.
