A PROFESSOR is launching a new version of his book about what it is like to be a bird in Sheffield.

Professor Tim Birkhead, who teaches animal behaviour and the history of science at Sheffield University, will launch the paperback edition of Bird Sense, at Waterstones in Orchard Square, in the city centre, from 6.30pm tonight.

He will talk about the award-winning book and take questions from the audience.

Bird Sense describes the ways birds interpret their environment and interact with one another.

Prof Birkhead is a Fellow of the Royal Society of London. His research has taken him all over the world in his bid to understand the lives of birds.

Tickets for the event cost £2 and include refreshments. To book tickets, call 0114 272 8971.
