Flower power project funded

CONSERVATION work in the Peak District has secured a £55,000 grant.

The funding has been provided by waste company SITA from landfill tax credits and will be used for a project to collect wildflower seeds which can be sown elsewhere.

A “cut and collect” machine is being purchased that mows grass along the banks and harvests wildflower seeds for sowing elsewhere along the trails.

It will be used on the High Peak and Tissington trails – disused railway lines that run through the White Peak.
