Floodlights set to get go-ahead

Have your say

CONTROVERSIAL floodlights at a sports ground close to a housing estate are set to be switched on later at night despite objections from local residents.

North East Derbyshire District Council is being recommended by its planning manager to approve a application for the floodlights at Gosforth Fields, Stubley Drive, Dronfield, to be lit until 9.30pm

The chairman of Gosforth Fields Sports Association says that the artificial turf soccer pitch is so popular with youngsters that they want to extend the hours it is hired out between October 1 and March 31.

But residents and Dronfield Town Council have objected on the grounds of nuisance to local residents, claiming there will be more noise and light pollution.
