Flood warnings in place with further rain expected across South Yorkshire

Flood warnings remain in place across South Yorkshire and north Derbyshire this morning, with further rain expected throughout the day.

The Environment Agency has issued warnings for the River Sheaf and Porter Brook near the Leadmill and between Granville Square and Commercial Street, all in the city centre.

Warnings are also in place for the River Sheaf at Priestley Street, Duchess Street and Sheaf Gardens, Highfield.

Further away from the city there is a warning in place for the River Sheaf at Coniston Road, Abbeydale.

There are also warnings for the River Rother at Renishaw and River Doe Lea at Bolsover coking works and Netherthorpe.

The Met Office is predicting showery outbreaks of rain today and is warning that some could be heavy during the morning not be as torrential as yesterday.

The rain should become lighter later.
