Flood defences plea rejected

Have your say

FLOOD barriers have been refused for a park on the outskirts of Sheffield.

The Environment Agency has turned down a request for the measures in Coronation Park, Oughtibridge, because it is on a flood plain so floods naturally.

Bradfield Parish Council, which manages the park, said it had to respect the agency’s decision and that it would not affect future operation of the park.

The park is next to the River Don and is prone to flooding when the river rises after heavy rain.
