Flood alerts still in force in Derbyshire - but warning for Dales town no longer in place

The Environment Agency says a flood warning for parts of a Derbyshire town is no longer in place after floodwaters receded overnight.

Heavy rainfall had led to flooding at Darley Dale - including Stankirk, Flatts Farm, the Square, at Compass Public House and the B5057 between the town and Two Dales Road.

But the agency says the flooding is receding and that affected areas should now be clear of water, although some standing water may remain.

The last recorded level at the Chatsworth river gauge was 2.45 metres. River levels are falling, with light rainfall forecast over the next 12 hours.

Elsewhere, 11 alerts remain in place across Derbyshire - including for the River Wye.

This morning, there was still flooding of low-lying agricultural land in the Ashford and Bakewell areas.

The level at the Ashford river gauge at 8.45am was 0.78 metres. River levels are currently falling, but are expected to remain at elevated levels over the next 12 hours with scattered showers forecast in that period.
