Doncaster Council workers have been beefing up river defences all week, dishing out more than 40,000 sandbags to worried homeowners.
And while a number of alerts remain along the River Don, it appears Doncaster has escaped relatively unscathed from Storm Christoph.

Hide AdA Doncaster Council spokesman said: “The situation is improving but floods alerts will remain in place.
“Storm Christoph has moved out to the east, along with the rain. The weather forecast is that winds will gradually ease and the next few days will be sunny spells and showers but a lot of these will miss Doncaster.
“Although the weather has improved, river levels in Doncaster are still high and Environment Agency Flood Alerts remain in place in some parts of the River Don at Kirk Bramwith, Stainforth and Fishlake.
"The River Don continues to over-top near Stainforth spilling into the wash lands, as it is designed to do.

“However, given the flooding history in this area, as a precautionary measure, the Environment Agency and partners in consultation with local Flood Wardens, have decide to deploy their pumping plan. This means that pumps will be on standby in the area, ready to be deployed if required, currently this is not required due to dropping water levels in Fishlake.
“We ask residents to remain vigilant and prepared, keeping sandbags in place. Please be reassured that we will keep you informed should there be any changes in the situation.
