Five injured after cars crash into Sheffield shop

Officers are appealing for information after a silver Skoda Rapide and a blue Land Rover Sport were involved in a collision on Ecclesall Road at the junction with Greystones Road around 1.25pm yesterday afternoon.

The Skoda is believed to have been travelling along Greystones Road towards Ecclesall Road when it was in collision with the Land Rover as it travelled towards the city centre.

As a result of the collision, both cars then collided with the front of the AGA shop on Ecclesall Road, opposite the junction.

The driver of the Skoda, an 87-year-old woman, was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

A 38-year-old man driving the Land Rover and a passenger in the car, a 41-year-old woman, both suffered minor injuries as a result of the collision but did not require hospital treatment.

Two girls, aged six and 10, who were also passengers in the car, suffered minor injuries but did not require hospital treatment.

The crash closed off Ecclesall Road for two hours.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or who saw either of the cars prior to the collision to get in touch.
