ANGLERS are being asked to cast their lines at lakes in South Yorkshire in the first of a series of 12 national fish-a-thons to help injured military personnel.
The event – an open invitation coarse angling match – is being held at Hayfield Lakes, Auckley, Doncaster, on Tuesday to raise cash for The British Limbless Ex Service Men’s Association. The charity supports service men and women who lose limbs or eyes or the use of limbs or eyes while serving their country.
Part of the entry fee of every angler entering the fish-a-thons will be donated to the charity.
People who do not want to fish but wish to help fundraising can sponsor the organisers, Warrant Officers Mat Lambeth and Jack Horner, a penny for every pound of fish they catch throughout the series by logging on to www.justgiving.com/Penny-A-Pound-Fish-A-Thon
WO2 Lambeth said: “Tackle manufacturers and dealers have been generous in donating prizes and we will be having both a national raffle and raffles at each of the individual events.” To enter the events, call WO2 Lambeth on 07795 061729.
