PLANS for a chippie to open until 5am are being opposed by officials, because the building has planning permission to trade only until 12.30am.
Albany Foods wants a licence to serve until 5am daily at Betty’s Traditional Fish and Chips on Fitzwilliam Street, Sheffield city centre.
No nearby residents have objected, but Dave Caulfield, head of planning, said: “There is potential for noise nuisance from patrons arriving and leaving and queuing outside.”
Mr Caulfield said the proposed hours were ‘well in excess of what could be considered reasonable’. A decision is expected from Sheffield Council’s licensing sub-committee on Monday.
