First students move in to £11m flats on former Gatecrasher nightclub site

The first students have moved into a new block of flats on the site of one of Sheffield's most famous clubs.

The £11 million Gatecrasher Apartments, on the corner of Arundel Street and Matilda Street, is now open to tenants.

The 243-bed block was built on the site of the Gatecrasher nightclub, which was demolished after a fire in 2007.

The block is part of the West One cluster which also includes flats in Sellers Wheel in Arundel Street, Huttons Buildings in West Street and at Broomgrove Apartments on Broomgrove Road, as well as the West One complex in Fitzwilliam Street.

The majority of flats are in clusters of three, four and five bedrooms. There are also 90 one-bed studios, each with a kitchen.

The building also houses a gym, cinema room, lounge and internal courtyard designed to look like a record turntable.

Rent for shared flats starts at £110 per person per week, including bills, with studios available from £135 per person per week.
