BUS operator First has launched a ‘customer promise’ to passengers in South Yorkshire, offering free tickets to people with certain complaints.
The company, which operates 500 buses in Sheffield, Rotherham, Doncaster and Barnsley, will offer customers who hold a valid travel ticket or pass the opportunity to make a travel claim for a free day pass if a service departs more than one minute early, is more than 20 minutes late, or when an advertised service fails to operate.
The Customer Promise covers journeys affected by a vehicle breakdown or an error on behalf of the company.
It does not include factors outside First’s control, such as severe weather disruption or short-notice road closures.
The scheme was launched to coincide with First’s new bus service between Rotherham and Barnsley, via the Dearne Valley and new routes in Doncaster to serve Scawsby and Sprotbrough.
