Firms bid to run services

COMPETITION between private businesses bidding to run Sheffield Council's administration and maintenance services has reached its next stage.

Initially, 96 companies and organisations had expressed an interest – but now the number has been whittled down to eight.

Bidders for ‘integrated services’ – computer technology, paying revenue and benefits, personnel, financial and business transactions – are existing provider Liberata, along with Arvarto, BT, Capita and IBM.

Companies have until October 23 to submit their bids. Three bidders will be shortlisted for each of the two areas of council business.
