An investigation is under way into the cause of a blaze in two disused shops in Mexborough.

The fire on Bank Street was discovered in the roof space of the shops at 2pm on Friday, and led to the evacuation of a nearby pub while firefighters extinguished the flames to prevent them spreading.

Nobody was hurt in the incident, which took fire crews from Dearne, Rotherham and Central stations two hours to deal with.
