Firefighters dealing with scrapyard fire in Barnsley
A huge plume of smoke could be seen in Royston, Barnsley on Wednesday evening as firefighters were dealing with a scrapyard fire on Boulder Bridge Lane.
However, the South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue assured that there was no cause for concern.
Group Manager Jonathan Dyson said: “We’ve got six appliances at this incident now but people should be assured half of these are for water carrying - and the fire is under control."
They also told the public not to panic if they heard explosions, as this was due to some cylinders being involved..
Besides a crane and two trailers, they also had four fire engines on the case.
They warned the public to keep their windows closed as there was a smoke plume heading towards Barnsley town.
