The house where five members of the same family died in a house fire in Sheffield remained cordoned off and under police guard yesterday.

Officers remain guarding the property on Wake Road, Nether Edge, while police and fire investigators continue with their probe into the cause of the blaze, which broke out in the early hours of Monday, April 28.

Shabina Begum, aged 54, her daughter Anum Parwaiz, 20 and three grandchildren - Adyan, Amaan and Minahil Parwaiz Kayani - perished in the blaze.

Mrs Begum managed to escape the inferno but re-entered her burning home to try to rescue her family.

A crowd of around 300 concerned friends, relatives and neighbours gathered at the house as firefighters searched the burning house and brought out the bodies of the five victims, who were all given emergency

first aid at the scene but were unable to be revived.

Post mortem examinations on the bodies - from three generations of the same family - revealed all the fire victims died from smoke inhalation.

The joint police and fire service investigation into the fire has not yet unearthed anything suspicious.

Inquests into the five deaths have been opened.
