Two fire engines were called to a fire near Kelham Island in Sheffield this evening (Thursday, June 4).

A large plume of black smoke was reported at about 8.45pm, prompting two engines from South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service to respond.

The fire was a quantity of burning rubber behind a building on Neepsend Lane, Neepsend.

But when they reached the fire, crews found the blaze to be ‘smaller than expected’, according to the fire service.
