Fine for Rotherham man who shone laser pen at police helicopter

A 23-year-old who shone a laser pen at a national police helicopter was fined £300 by magistrates.

Ben Roe, of Kiveton Park, Rotherham, pleaded guilty at Rotherham Magistrates Court to shining the light in an attempt to distract the pilot.

The incident happened on July 28.

The man was handed a £300 fine by magistrates and made to pay £85 costs.

The laser pen was also seized.
