A pair of young Sheffield filmmakers have been recognised by the judges of a national film competition.
Rebecca Staniforth, of Wales High School, and Richard Grimshaw, of Penistone Grammar School, each received an award at the second Moving Image Awards, held in London last month.
Rebecca took home the Best Film Extract Award, for her entry ‘Turning Tables’ - a ten minute video that tells the tale of a group of young waiters and was filmed at a restaurant on Ecclesall Road. Judges praised Rebecca for her ability to bring her vision to life in an extract that ‘totally absorbed the viewer.’
Richard won the Best TV Extract Award for his entry, entitled ‘Intuition and was commended for his artistic and technical skills.
This annual event celebrates the UK’s most talented young film-makers.
Jeremy Points, head of creative media arts at event sponsors WJEC, said: “The standard of work submitted this year was exceptionally high. We were delighted to showcase the work of some of the country’s most exciting young filmmakers who will no doubt play a significant role in shaping the future of film.”
